On September 15, the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China (CIESC) held the first "CIESC Science and Technology Innovation Conference" in Beijing. The conference awarded the 2020 "CIESC Fellows", "Hou Debang Chemical Science and Technology Award", and "CIESC Science and Technology Award", as well as other important awards. Comrade Chen Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of the Southwest Chemical Institute Co., Ltd. (SWCHEM), was elected as the 2020 Fellow of CIESC. This year, 9 people across the country won the honor of Fellowship.
Fellowship of the CIESC are to commend members of CIESC who have made significant and creative contributions and achievements in the field of chemical science and technology. They are mainly awarded to professional members of CIESC for major inventions and important research results, that have found significant application or have creatively solved key scientific and technological problems in major engineering design, development, construction, operation, management and engineering technology applications in the field of chemical science and technology. The selection of fellowship is based on nomination, self-recommendation is not accepted. Members of CIESC, unit members of CIESC, various professional committees, various provincial and municipal chemical engineering (chemistry) societies, etc. may nominate candidates for membership. Fellowship of CIESC is the highest academic title for members of CIES and a lifetime honor.
