June 28th, China Petroleum & Chemical Industry Federation and China Chemical Industry Environmental Protection Association issued a list of key technologies in environmental protection and clean production of petroleum and chemical industry (equipment) in which SWRDICI’s coke oven gas methanation to natural gas technology has been selected.
SWRDICI was the first in carrying out technology development in methanation of coke oven gas to produce natural gas in China. We developed a multifunctional methanation catalyst and a low circulating ratio, energy saving methanation process. Through technology integration, a complete line of technology to produce SNG/CNG/LNG was developed including processes for deep purification of coke oven gas, methanation, and product separation. The "technical licensing - engineering design - catalyst production - key equipment design and manufacturing - engineering general contracting / project management" model was adopted for commercialization of our proprietary methanation technology. In China, over 20 coke oven gas methanation plants have been licensed with our technology, making SWRDICI a market leader in this field. The coke oven gas recovered annually using our technology reached 7 billion standard cubic meters. An annual production capacity of 3 billion tons of natural gas is realized which is equivalent to 3 million 640 thousand tons of standard coal, reducing the emission of 6000 tons of SO2 and large quantities of benzene, naphthalene, dust, tar and other harmful substances. In the evaluation conducted by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation in 2015, our methanation technology was assessed to be at "international advanced level", winning the first prize for scientific and technological progress. A China's patent of excellence award was also given to SWRDICI’s patent pertaining to this technology.
SWRDICI’s methanation technology helps turning a heavily polluting industrial vent gas into clean energy. This process meets the technical requirement for clean and efficient utilization of industrial exhaust gas in China, as well as meets the "coking industry access conditions", "coking chemical industry pollutant emission standards" and other industrial policies. It has significant positive impact in transforming and upgrading coking industry as well as the rising energy saving and environmental protection industry. SWRDIDI’s methanation technology can be applied in areas with coking plants all over the country so the market for this technology is very broad.
