The Number of Patents Continued to Grow at SWRDICI

In 2015, SWRDICI filed 42 patents, which is a year-on-year growth of 5%. In the same year, 36 patents were granted to SWRDICI, which is a year-on-year growth of 28.6%. Patents of invention accounted for 88% of the authorized patents. These numbers put SWRDICI in the front row for numbers of patents filed as well as granted in ChemChina Corp. An increasingly better structured patents pool is seen at SWRDICI.

In recent years, SWRDICI has worked hard on applying principles in national and corporate guidelines on scientific innovation to daily work. Strong measures were taken to strengthen our foundation in research, research management, and platform for technology commercialization. A trend of steady increase in the number of patents filed and granted at SWRDICI was seen over the years. In addition, SWRDICI has received many honors including the National Intellectual Property Model Enterprise, National Innovation-Type Pilot Enterprise and etc. SWRDICI has been certified by the national regulation of “Enterprise Management Standard of Intellectual Property”. The creation, application, protection and management of intellectual property have been further regulated, and more than 80% of our patents find use in industry.       

In 2015, SWRDICI’s patent “A method of synthetic natural gas preparation from coke-oven gas” (ZL201110267177.4) won the Outstanding Patent Award of ChemChina Corp. and the Award of Excellence of the 17^th National Patent Award. The key technology in the underlying patent was licensed to multiple enterprises in Hebei and Shanxi provinces. Another project of SWRDICI, “Technological Development and Industrialization of Natural Gas Synthesis by Methanation of Coke-Oven Gas” has won the Science and Technology Progress Award of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF).

By the end of 2015, our company filed 347 patents, among which 302 were innovation patents and the rest were utility model. 204 patents were granted, among which 165 were for patents of innovation and the rest were patents of utility model.
