Brief introduction
N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP) is a solvent with low volatility, low combustibility, and mild toxicity that can be used for the extraction of butadiene, for refining lubricating oil, and for the concentration of acetylene made from natural gas. Because of its good solubility, NMP is often used to dissolve chemicals, particularly polymers and in polymerization reactions (polyamide, plyimide, and polyurethane), or as a spinning solvent for synthetic fibers, for the processing and film forming of functional resin, for the surface treatment of textiles, and for metal spraying on a plastic surface. It can also be used as a paint remover.
Technical features
Under pressure and at high temperatures, γ-butyrolactone and methylamine solution can produce NMP through synthesis. After deamination, dehydration, and rectification of the reactants, the product purity is no less than 99.5 percent and the selectivity of the NMP is no less than 99 percent. The amination reaction uses a liquid-phase, continuous-tank process, with production capacity large and energy consumption low.
