Brief introduction
The methanol synthesis at low or medium pressure process was part of a project we undertook for the Key National Technologies R&D Program under the 8th Five-Year Plan. In the 1980s, we took the lead nationally in developing the process and technology for methanol synthesis at low or medium pressure and for China’s Gen-1 copper-based catalyst for methanol synthesis at low or medium pressure. We built China’s first 10kt/a methanol industrial unit with natural gas as its raw material in Yulin, Shaanxi province. In 1995, the Ministry of Science and Technology gave us the “National support unit for low/medium pressure methanol synthesis process and catalyst technology” title. By now, China has built more than 30 industrial sites for the production of methanol from natural gas, coal or COG, using our technology and engineering design.
Raw material route and capacity
Reforming and gas-making using natural gas as the raw material; intermittent or continuous gas-making using coal as the raw material; COG and CBM; CO2-rich synthesis gas; pure CO2 and H2.
